This is a portrait of model Giovanna Ramos, exploring a more unconventional approach to traditional portraiture. For this piece, I wanted to move away from the subjects and compositions typically associated with classical portraiture, introducing an element that feels more unexpected. The act of smoking offered an opportunity to experiment with an entirely different subject within my practice, particularly the challenge of capturing the movement, softness and transparency of smoke using oil paint.

Painted on cardboard, the work embraces the natural, rustic qualities of the surface, creating an interesting contrast with the precision and detail of the portrait itself. The combination of subject, material and technique allowed me to step outside my usual approach and explore a different visual language.
